Unpaid Placement Opportunities
PPRC helps clients with disabilities to establish a career goal and secure job training opportunities to prepare them for their return to the workforce. Our Unpaid Work Experience Program is one of our many services that we offer in conjunction with the Ontario Disability Support Program. An unpaid work experience program is appropriate for individuals who require a short period of time in a work environment for one of the following reasons:
- To test out their abilities and interests in specific types of jobs;
- To assess or develop work habits or skills;
- To assess or develop work tolerance levels;
- To obtain current work experience and references.
During the employment planning stage of our employment process, we conduct in-take interviews with our clients to determine their work history, interests, education, medical history, and disability adjustment issues. For those in need of unpaid on-the-job training, we then coordinate an unpaid placement opportunity, either job shadowing (click here to visit Job Shadowing section), volunteering (click here to visit Volunteering section), or academic advancement (click here to visit Educational Advancement section), depending on the individual’s special needs and abilities.
