MentorAbility is a program designed to match Protégés (persons with a disability interested in a career path) with Mentors (people within that career path that are willing to provide access so that the protégé may better understand the career choice). Performance Plus Rehabilitative Care Inc. (PPRC) is a vocational rehabilitation company that works with MentorAbility to create those opportunities and matches.

Leornard Laventure is a Protégé with PPRC and he wanted to learn more about his career choice of working in radio. Shilo Bellis has worked in radio for 17 years while living with complete vision loss. He hosts two radio shows The Night Shift on 849 CFCW AM in Edmonton, Alberta as well as an afternoon program at New Country 92.3 FM in Fredericton, New Brunswick. In 2020, Shilo won in the Medium/Small Market category at the Canadian Country Music Awards. https://broadcastdialogue.com/amanda-kingsland-makes-it-five-in-a-row-at-ccma-industry-awards/

The MentorAbility opportunity was delivered remotely via video conference and both Leornard and Shilo thought the mentor match was excellent. Leornard was pleased to have the opportunity to work with someone so accomplished and who understood working with a disability. Shilo enjoyed the connection and the ability to work with a person who identifies as living with a disability and helping them to realize their goals. They both recommended joining the MentorAbility program. Getting engaged is the key to establishing opportunities.
