Performance Plus Rehabilitative Care Inc. (PPRC) provides vocational rehabilitation services to person who identify as living with a disability. PPRC has been in business for 28 years and builds partnerships with employers who are willing to hire inclusively and look for people who can do the job.

Evripos is an Ottawa based employer who has built a relationship with PPRC over the years and is one of the Trusted Partners in the field of hiring inclusively. As an employer champion, Evripos leads by example working with PPRC to find and on-board new talent and build lasting employment opportunities.

Daniel is a client with PPRC, and he works as a cleaner with Evripos. But his journey to employment took him through the trials of the pandemic. In late 2019, PPRC presented a Human Library Event where different employers spoke to PPRC clients and talked about the journey to find a career in their field. Daniel attended the Human Library and met Louise Lemay and Cheryl Timpson of Evripos. A relationship was formed and the seed was planted for a potential job match. In 2020, COVID 19 changed everything, and the word locked down. Fast forward a year and a half and as the world reopened, so has the job market. Evripos did not forget about Daniel, when the opportunity became available, they hired him in the spring of 2021. Daniel works as a cleaner under the supervision of Denise Martin at Evripos. When Denise speaks about Daniel she says simply, “he does the job. He is no different than anyone else, he works full time and I can count on him to get the work done and done well.”

Daniel describes his duties as general cleaning, vacuuming, mopping floors and staircases and elevator tracks. He explains that he is assigned to a job site and given specific floors and tasks that he completes daily. He also gets asked to to extra tasks on an as needed basis. He likes working at Evripos, he likes the responsibility. “The people are friendly, they helped me by giving me an opportunity and I appreciate that” says Daniel.

Denise discloses that the decision to hire is a simple one, “if you have the ability and you need a job, we will give you a chance. We give everyone the same opportunities and I think people appreciate that.” Evripos is a supportive employer.

Daniel says he is thankful to Brittany Williston and PPRC for assisting him in his journey to find employment and introducing him to Evripos.
